The hottest ticket in town brought together members and guests of the CAV for an evening of Chinese culture, fine dining and entertainment.

We come together in unity as a community to support each other, celebrate our diversity and acknowledge our heritage – which continues to bring goodness to multicultural Victoria that we all love, enjoy and live in.”
Gala Convenor & First Vice President, Christina Chia

CAV President BC Tay in his speech extended gratitude to all guests with particular mention to the Gala Committee, Past Presidents who were present, Sub-Committee groups, Sponsors, Raffle and Auction partners for their support.

Distinguished guests included MP Paul Hamer, representing the Victorian Premier, Hon Daniel Andrews, the Consul General of the People Republic of Chinese, Shi Gang, MP Jess Wilson, representing the Opposition Leader, Hon John Pesutto and Viv Nguyen, Chairperson, Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC).

The evening showcased CAV’s Lion Dance Troupe, Chinese Opera Singer, Anna Li, and a Fashion Show by Lucy Laurita Designs. Fashion models were volunteers from the Gala guests and the supportive crowd cheered and gave encouragement to the models during the runway show which made the night even more special. Thank you to models, Rachael Haack, Samantha El-Helou, Jessica Watt, Janine Lum, Eunice Chin, Anna Wang and Christina Chia –  it was a joy and privilege to see you ladies on the catwalk.

Guests danced the night away with live music by Ron Kingston. We were very grateful for the generous support to our Auctions and Raffles sales which exceeded our expectations! Proceeds will go to the CAV Chinese School maintenance fund.

A highlight of our evening was the presentation of Honorary Fellows awards to Clement Chan and Susan Gin in recognition of their work at the CAV. The CAV Honorary Fellowship is the highest award CAV can bestow upon a member for outstanding voluntary services to the Association and/or the Chinese community in Australia.

The success of the Gala Dinner reflects CAV’s contributions to unity & strength of the Chinese community for over 41 years by preserving and promoting Chinese culture and heritage in Victoria.
